The Financial Director at Still I Rise is responsible for overseeing, organizing, and coordinating all administrative, financial, accounting, and legal functions of the organization. This includes managing financial operations and general accounting, overseeing all administrative processes such as financial operations and the preparation of consolidated financial statements, and preparing periodic reports to analyze any discrepancies between forecasts and actual outcomes.
The role also involves suggesting interventions to correct and/or streamline processes, procedures, and results, identifying opportunities for increased productivity across the supply chain. The manager handles relationships and operations with banks and financial institutions, manages transactions or investments, and ensures the formal and legal correctness of extraordinary operations. Finally, the role involves supervising and coordinating the activities and management of human resources within the team, which includes Finance, HR, and Compliance Officers.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing the preparation of the annual budget and monitoring its performance.
- Providing periodic (monthly and quarterly) reports on financial and economic performance.
- Coordinating the Finance, HR, and Compliance functions’ staff.
- Preparing consolidated and separate financial statements for any group entities.
- Managing relationships with auditing firms, external consultants for tax, legal, and personnel administration matters.
- Analyzing and reporting on financial performance and providing related reports to the Board of Directors, recommending further actions as needed.
- Supervising cash flow management through the collection of income and payment of suppliers.
- Identifying and providing feedback and suggestions to the Leadership Team for potential improvements to Still I Rise’s policies, procedures, and processes to make them clearer, more streamlined, and efficient; proposing ways to automate the most operational and repetitive tasks as much as possible.
- Providing training to staff in areas such as budget development, budget management, fiscal responsibility, and financial procedures.
- Responding promptly to requests from others regarding financial reporting for SIR, with a donor-oriented approach.
- Overseeing the evaluation, management, and mitigation of risks.
- Coordinating with the fundraising director to support the income forecasting process, set revenue targets, and conduct periodic and ad-hoc audits on fundraising report analysis to ensure process accuracy.
Essential Skills & Requirements
- Strong knowledge in administrative, financial, accounting, and compliance areas, specifically regarding tax deadlines, financial analysis, EU financial statements, civil law, commercial law, corporate law, tax-accounting management, break-even calculations, financial and asset valuation methods, business planning, and personnel administration.
- Proven expertise in fiscal and civil law, with extensive experience in economic functions, management control, business economics, accounting, and/or financial control, along with a solid understanding of accounting, fiscal, and bookkeeping regulations.
- Professional proficiency in English is essential, and often a second foreign language such as French or Spanish is preferred.
- Experience with non-profit organizations is a preferred qualification.
