Still I Rise International School of Nairobi, Kenya, has been featured in the World’s Best Schools Prizes Top 10 shortlist in the category for Community Collaboration.
The winners in each of the five competing categories of the prizes, launched by T4 Education organization, will be announced this October, during the World Education Week. A total prize of $250,000 is up for grabs.
Still I Rise International School of Nairobi won the top spot for its commitment to celebrating the beauty of multiculturalism by organizing the Jenga Pamoja event and creating a highly inclusive educational environment among its students, who come from eight different countries.
“For us, this is the true meaning of Building Peace: not through political conventions, lofty declarations or supranational resolutions, but in everyday life, seeing ourselves in each other, and the whole world in ourselves. It all starts from the School,” said Nicolò Govoni, Executive Director of Still I Rise. “If we will rank first in October, we will have the honor of seeing our Model recognized worldwide; schools in the four corners of the globe will have the opportunity to replicate it in their own countries. But even if we don’t win, this is already a huge victory for us.”
