Still I Rise International School, in the heart of Mathare, one of Kenya’s largest slums, was initially surrounded by toxic fumes coming from the nearby open-air landfill.

Ernest, a 35-year-old Burundian refugee and father of one of our students, lived in Nairobi with his family after fleeing the political crisis in his country. However, his life was cut short by a car accident in 2021, which was not followed by adequate medical care.

The Democratic Republic of Congo is a paradox: rich in natural resources but oppressed by poverty. Despite being one of the world’s largest producers of cobalt, copper and various minerals, the local population suffers from exploitation by foreign companies and widespread child labor.

Since 2022 we have been committed to ensuring that companies that sell products containing cobalt (including computers, telephones and electric bikes) are obliged to clean their supply chain and that an independent external authority certifies it.

The civil war in Yemen began in 2014, and soon took on a global dimension when the advance of the Houti minority towards the south of the country forced the incumbent president into exile.

Syria is torn apart by a decades-long war. We operate in the country’s Northwest region (NWS), where more than 4.5 million people live, of whom more than 3.4 million are internally displaced and 80 percent are women and children.

We promoted a bill related to humanitarian corridors at the Republic of San Marino. This was a key step in our journey to ensure a better future for unaccompanied foreign minors.
