The simplest game for a child? To ask himself ‘what am I going to do when I grow up?’ by imagining his own future. Unfortunately, however, not all children are lucky enough to be able to dream: thousands of them are born into extreme poverty or conflict and see their hope of a better tomorrow extinguished through no fault of their own.
But we are changing all that! With our Emergency Schools in Yemen, Syria and DR Congo, we are rescuing children from the streets or from child labour by offering them quality education and reintegrating them into the formal education system of their country.

Our Emergency and Rehabilitation Schools
The Emergency and Rehabilitation Schools, officially Academies, were created to offer holistic support to children and families in the most complicated contexts around the globe. They respond to an immediate need, that of survival, and then restore the right to childhood and dignity.
Our Academies are places where students enter with enthusiasm and our teachers are passionate, flexible and capable educators who become mentors and reference points in our students' lives.

‘I lived most of my life in a refugee camp, studying seemed an unattainable luxury.
Every day I had to deal with bringing water home but the desire to go to school grew in my heart.
At 11 years old, I feared my dream of becoming an English teacher was lost, how could I teach if I could not even learn?
Then Still I Rise found us. In just a few days, I became one of the School's best students, especially in English!’
