Italy is facing an unparalleled education emergency. We are emergency education experts. That’s why we decided to put our knowledge, resources and training at the service of schools in Italy. We created “INSIEME,” a teaching support format that allows teachers to discover Still I Rise’s Method and apply it in the classroom through three different training paths.
INSIEME is an educational program designed for 8 to 16 year olds in schools, educational institutions, and associations to explain the Still I Rise educational model and raise awareness about migration, reception, child labor, and the right to education. In line with our mission, it supports educators and promotes social understanding and responsibility.
INSIEME has three modules. The first module is called Information and is targeted at educators. The second module is called Raising Awareness and is targeted at students and educators. The third module is called Projects and encourages students and their educators to choose one of three distinct practical projects: Reading, Photography and Citizenship that seek to actively engage students in these critical issues.
By choosing the Reading project, educators can introduce students to one of Nicolò Govoni's books, with options available for different age groups: "Bianco come Dio," "Se fosse tuo figlio," and "Fortuna" for secondary schools, e "Ogni cambiamento è un grande cambiamento" for primary schools. Educators will receive materials to introduce the author and his books, adapting the pace of reading to the group. At the end, resources will be provided for a reflection session and a hands-on activity to help students internalize the book's message.
By choosing the Photography project, educators and students will explore the exhibition "Through Our Eyes" created by the Still I Rise students. The photographs tell students' stories and expose the challenges and injustices of the refugee reception system, war and life in slums, showing hope even in hardship. Educators will receive support to set up the exhibition in their schools or communities, and students will participate in a hands-on activity, using photography to express themselves and share their world.
By choosing the Citizenship project, educators and students will practice being active and aware citizens, fighting prejudice, promoting diversity and caring for the environment. Students will collaborate on a project to improve the local community, inspired by examples from our International School in Kenya, gaining skills to have a positive social impact.
